    I have embraced my limitations and CP.  However, I do not embrace the pain.  When I heard all the hype, I decided to try some for myself!  When  I was 16, I was diagnosed with Scoliosis, and it was discovered that I had a thirty degree curvature As I got out of bed, I had my mom spray the Biofreeze down the length of my spine.  I truly wish I would’ve known about this product 5 or 10 years ago!

    When I was a kid, I lived on Lake Wausau.  I knew that I could back out even at the last second if I was uncomfortable and that made me feel good As I began to glide through the water I realized “I am actually doing this” I AM FREE When we first took As I was skiing I did not feel the coldness of the water, I was gliding on pure adrenaline.     In the free version, I can upload documents that need a signature and simply insert my signature, Initials I needed help initially setting up my signature in DocuSign, as you had to click and release while signing My mom helped me do that.   I would have also needed help with this as well! I found the free version to be adequate for my needs.

I hit the internet to see what I could find.   I am not quite that important just yet!  Due to my CP, I am difficult to understand on the phone.   In my case, EMS now knows that I am immobile and that I use a wheelchair. We discovered at the first game, that the food needed to be purchased at a specific vending area.   I am also guaranteed a high five from Woody Woodchuck! Inquire about the accessibility of the ball park and discuss any accommodations you may need.

    I did not exactly have it that easy.  Accommodations do need to be made for students with disabilities to simply give them a fair playing field who am I to say anything!  knew I could do better.  I may not have fully appreciated this at the time, but now I see that they knew my potential.

I did not make it through the corn maze.  I found the product I needed, a part from the other TENA®MEN™ products.

    Increase in activity can help with weight management too! Little did I know, I was heading right for a steep embankment!   My power chair skidded a bit when I stopped.   I felt one with my surroundings.   I was nervous about upcoming medical testing and I was able to relax and forget everything.

What I get from being part of  Special Olympics is so very simple.

    I guess this is a reflection of my bad eating habits.  Or should I say former bad eating habits.   To sum it up, I am a junk food junkie.   Coupled with the fact that my mobility is very limited, changes needed to be made. More tweaking to my diet needs to happen, so off to the Farmers Market I went. Knowing what is in season in your area can help you plan ahead. Go early or go late.

    .” – Lou Holtz I love this quote and have applied it to my life even before I read it!  Even though they have good intentions, I am not sorry I have cerebral palsy.  I have a body that does not always work and causes me pain, but I am alive and with my writing, I can I love to bowl! I have never let Cerebral Palsy stop me from doing anything I have wanted to do. With the help of friends, we find a way.  I go to summer camp at Camp Wawbeek every year. 

  • Hosting a Guest With a Physical Disability

    Before leaving a friend or relative off the guest list, have a conversation about their needs and potential Wheelchair Users need to be able to maneuver their chair within the bathroom.   Take pictures of the layout prior to the gathering and discuss the needs with your guest. Personally, I need to be able to maneuver my chair within the bathroom.   I have a tray for my wheelchair and bring it wherever I go.
